William R. Deeter is a University of Toledo graduate with a BS Degree in Mass Communications. The first 19 years of his professional life in marketing and communications were spent working for Fortune 500 level corporations and privately held multi-national companies. Owens Corning Fiberglas, Air Products and Chemicals, Johnson Wax and M&M/Mars are the employer names most recognized.
In 1985 Mars Inc. became William R. Deeter Associates Inc’s first public relations client. The full service agency was set up as a boutique-type operation that worked with no more than 10 active clients at any time.
The agency’s creative billings/spends have ranged from $750K to $4M based on the annual mix of clients and creative plan requirements. So far Deeter estimates agency lifetime (37 years) gross income to be approximately $100+M. Staffing for the agency has gone from 1 to 25 professional communicators annually and leveled out at 10 to 12 skilled full and part time staffers.
Over its history, Deeter has worked with Mars, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Roche, The Walt Disney Company, Meridian Diagnostics, Mission Pharmacal, Scuba Pro, Master Foods, Crystal GeyserWater Co., and The United States Olympic Committee. In addition, Deeter has worked with and raised more than $100M for numerous regional, national and international nonprofits including The Center for Nutrition, The International Center For Sports Nutrition, The American Heart Association, The National Stroke Association, Bucks County Council on Drug and Alcohol, The Princeton Dental Resource Center as well as USA Boxing, USA Swimming, USA Weightlifting and USOTC.
William (Bill) Deeter and wife Linda now work with two to three clients per year and split their time between Charleston, SC and Steamboat Springs, CO.
